Domestic Goddess Status? Check!

I am really excited to be hosting Christmas dinner at my house this year, for the first time ever.  My parents are in the process of renovating and updating their house, so it is the perfect opportunity for me to grab the turkey dinner reigns from my mom, and run with them.  I am definitely nervous about living up to her standards and because this is my first attempt, my mom will hopefully spend the afternoon on Christmas day at my house to help prepare and to cheer me on! Confidence? Check!

One thing that has been in the back of my mind since I decided to embody all that is 'The Hostess With The Mostess' is appearance - and not just the appearance of my delicious Christmas spread!  How will I have time to tend to the babies, ensure that everyone has a beverage in hand and a munchie nearby, and cook the best turkey dinner ever made, without looking like a melted candle?

Pre-children, I spent Christmas day indulging.  My mom would be slaving away in the kitchen, refusing any help whatsoever, and selfishly I would kick back in my pj's until I got the warning call: "Dinner is almost ready!"  Kicking off my slippers, I would take my time in the bathroom.  Perfecting my make-up, tweaking my outfit until everything was just SO...and then it was off to relish in the delights of Christmas dinner and the accompanying libations. Reminiscent? Check!

After much consideration, I decided that the best compromise in this situation is to check out the great selection of chic aprons that are available online. Sure, at the end of the night, my gorgeous apron will probably have acquired a few red wine/turkey gravy war wounds, but I will feel one step closer to achieving domestic goddess status with a chic and beautiful look!

After exploring Carolyn's Kitchen Online and the amazing selection of aprons and accessories available there, I am pretty sure that I am going to go with the Dorothy Apron in black and white:

But, if the pocket book allows it, I might splurge and also purchase the Asian Flowers apron in turquoise:

Who could resist such fabulousness, and the opportunity to dazzle everyone with a mid-evening 'wardrobe change'?  I also found some super cute aprons at the following sites:

Jessie Steele - Especially the Bib Audrey Deco Dot apron. Adorable!

Flirty Aprons - Their selection of children's aprons are to die for!

I am certain there is an apron out there for every kitchen dweller!  Enjoy browsing!
